My name is Anna Gadzhikurbanova, originally I’m from Russia, but currently I live and work in Austin, Texas.

My journey as a potter started several years ago in Japan where I was amazed and inspired by Japanese aesthetics and ceramic art. There I learnt about the great importance of this special moment when you hold ceramic piece in your hands, feel it's weight, feel how smooth, rough, soft, cool or sharp the surface is. I realised that through tactile sensations, objects reveal much more than through appearance alone.

Today a big deal of my inspiration comes from natural structures (fungi mycelium, seeds, microorganisms, blood/nervous systems, Earth reliefs, etc). In my work I enjoy playing with different textures and contrasting surfaces and colors.

If you have any questions about my work or just want to chat about ceramics, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
